This was a Christmas for tools and toys!
My studio is now newly outfitted in all the neccessary paraphanalia for working with PMC. For those of you unfamiliar with the medium, PMC stands for precious metal clay. It's basically tiny particles of silver (or gold) suspended in binders that allow it to be molded, carved, shaped, and even stamped. When the piece is dried, firing burns off the binders leaving behind a finished piece that is pure precious metal. I've been wanting to try my hand at the medium for some time now, and could not be more excited!
In addition to PMC, and in an effort to make my work truly my own, I hope to learn some basic metal working techniques. There is something about taking a sheet of metal, cutting, shaping, polishing it and turning it into a finished piece of jewelry that inspires me!
While it may be some time before these new pieces show up for sale in my store, I promise to post pictures of my progress here.
